13th - From Slavery to Mass Incarceration

13th is a new documentary on Netflix by Ava Duvernay the acclaimed director of Selma.

It focuses on how  our justice system has been driven by racism from the days of slavery to today’s era of mass incarceration. The title, "13th," is named for the constitutional amendment that abolished slavery with the exception of punishment for crime. This painful history raises our consciousness of ongoing racial injustice in our time. This film is a great resource for open and honest conversations about the impact of racism that can lead to advocating for greater levels of justice.
