13th - Documentary Viewing and Discussion

The District Church’s East Side and Columbia Heights Racial Justice Groups, in partnership with New Community Church, warmly invite you to a 4-part screening and discussion of the documentary 13TH. Directed by filmmaker Ava Duvernay, this award-winning documentary chronicles the history of the 13TH amendment through the lens of race, justice and mass incarceration in the United States
The film will be shown in 4 parts on Wednesdays in May (3, 10, 17, 24) from 7:00 -9:00PM, and each week’s screening will be followed by a discussion in a small-group like format. We welcome those who would like to learn more about mass incarceration, race and justice, as well as engage in discussion with others within the faith community. In order to build relationships within the group and foster fruitful discussion, we encourage attending all screenings although this is not required.

The screenings will be held at New Community Church (614 S St NW, Washington, DC 20001), half a block away from the Shaw-Howard Metro. RSVP and receive event updates at https://www.facebook.com/events/435970630091047/
